There are 5.6 miles of Yellow trails that follow old logging roads and fire lanes. Y1 is an intermediate difficulty and is 1.9 miles long; Y2 is novice level and is 0.6 miles long; Y3 is an intermediate trail of 0.6 miles; Y4 is a 1.0 mile long intermediate trail; Y5 is an advanced trail of 1.3 miles long; Y6 is a novice trail of only 0.2 miles long.

 

The Blue trail is an easy level 1.4-mile long trail.

 

The Red trails are each advanced levels of difficulty. R1 is 0.6 miles long and R2 is 1.1 miles long. Both of these trails are cut wide for skating and are popular among local Nordic Skiing teams.

 

The Green trails are primarily used for snowmobiling but are also open to skiers, and total 5.6 miles. G1 is an advanced trail of 0.8 miles, G2 is a novice trail of 0.7 miles, and G3 is 0.2 miles of advanced difficulty.

 

The 3.2 miles stretch of the Finger Lakes Trail is marked by white blazes. Hiking is permitted during the summer, and snowmobiling and snowshoeing are permitted during the winter.

 

The Orange Trail is a 5.6-mile long snowmobile corridor. Other recreational activities are permitted here, but it is primarily for snowmobilers.

In addition to the color-coded trails, there are also 6.2 miles of forest access and seasonal use roads that are used by snowmobilers.


Directions:

From I-81 north (from Syracuse) : Take the first Cortland exit (Exit 12, this is the exit for Ithaca). Take Rte. 281 south toward Ithaca. Eventually you will intersect with Rte. 13. Take Rte. 13 south toward Ithaca. Follow Rte. 13 southwest through Dryden. After leaving Dryden take the first left onto Irish Settlement Rd. After going through an "S" curve you will go up a big hill; continue a couple of miles. Take a left onto Hammond Hill Rd. Soon you will come to a "Y" intersection, take the right road. You will again go uphill at the top of which is a parking lot on the right. Park here. The start/finish area will be only 0.2 mile down the road.

From I-81 south (from Binghamton) : Take the Whitney Point exit. Follow Rte. 79 west toward Ithaca. You will go straight through a 4-way flashing red stop light in Richford. The next small village you will pass through is Slaterville Springs. Just as you leave Slaterville Springs take a right onto Midline Rd. After a few miles this road will turn into Irish Settlement Rd. A few miles past this take a right onto Hammond Hill Rd (the first road to your right since Rte. 79). Soon you will come to a "Y" intersection, take the right road. You will go uphill at the top of which is a parking lot on the right. Park here. The start/finish area will be only 0.2 mile down the road.

From Ithaca : Take Rte. 13 north toward Dryden. Before entering the Village of Dryden take a right onto Irish Settlement Rd. After going through an "S" curve you will go up a big hill; continue a couple of miles. Take a left onto Hammond Hill Rd. Soon you will come to a "Y" intersection, take the right road. You will again go uphill at the top of which is a parking lot on the right. Park here. The start/finish area will be only 0.2 mile down the road.
